I am sorry but don't have Babiniotis dictionary. I check the word in another great dictionary, Το Μεγάλο Λεξικό της Νεοελληνικής Γλώσσας from professor A. Georgopapadakos (Γεωργοπαπαδάκος Αναστάσιος) and said that noun Manavis coming from turkish language.
