Ελληνικό οικονομικό θαύμα

Ο όρος (σύγχρονο) Ελληνικό οικονομικό θαύμα έχει χρησιμοποιηθεί για να περιγράψει την εντυπωσιακό ρυθμό οικονομικής και κοινωνικής ανάπτυξης της Ελλάδας από τις αρχές της δεκαετίας του 1950 ως τα μέσα της δεκαετίας του 1970. Μεταξύ του 1950 και του 1973, ο μέσος όρος οικονομικής ανάπτυξης της χώρας κυμαινόταν γύρω στο 7%, όντας ο δεύτερος στον κόσμο, μετά από αυτόν της Ιαπωνίας. Οι υψηλότεροι ρυθμοί ανάπτυξης παρατηρήθηκαν τη δεκαετία του 1950, πολλές φορές ξεπερνώντας το 10% (η βιομηχανική παραγωγή αυξανόταν επίσης κατά 10% ετησίως, για πολλά χρόνια, κυρίως κατά τη δεκαετία του 1960). Ο όρος "θαύμα" όμως, χρησιμοποιείται σε σχετικά μικρό βαθμό, τουλάχιστον στην Ελλάδα. Ο λόγος συνδέεται με την ίδια την ελληνική κοινωνία: η μεταπολεμική περίοδος, μέχρι τα μέσα της δεκαετίας του '70, ήταν μια εποχή βαθιών πολιτικών διχασμών, με αποκορύφωμα τη Χούντα των Συνταγματαρχών (1967 - 1974), και είναι δύσκολο για τους Έλληνες να εντοπίσουν "θετικές πτυχές" στη διάρκεια αυτής της εικοσιπενταετίας. Επιπλέον, η ανάπτυξη αυτή (τουλάχιστον στην αρχή) διέυρυνε το χάσμα μεταξύ πλουσίων και φτωχών, με αποτέλεσμα να επιταθούν οι πολιτικοί διχασμοί.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17]

Κατοχή και Εμφύλιος[Επεξεργασία | επεξεργασία κώδικα]

Από το 1941 ως το 1944, η Γερμανική Κατοχή της Ελλάδας και οι θηριώδεις μάχες της με την Ελληνική αντίσταση είχε πρωτοφανείς, ολέθριες συνέπειες για την υποδομή και την οικονομία της χώρας. Επιπλέον, μετά το τέλος του Πολέμου, η Ελλάδα αντιμετώπισε έναν ιδιαίτερα σκληρό εμφύλιο πόλεμο μέχρι το 1949. Το 1950, η θέση της ελληνικής οικονομίας στον παγκόσμιο χάρτη είχε επιδεινωθεί δραματικά. Σύμφωνα με τον Άνγκους Μάντισον (Monitoring the World Economy 1820-1992, ΟΑΣΑ 1995), το ελληνικό κατά κεφαλήν εισόδημα έπεσε συγκριτικά με αυτό της Γαλλίας από 62% το 1938 σε 40% το 1949.

Το ελληνικό θαύμα[Επεξεργασία | επεξεργασία κώδικα]

Η ταχεία ανάρρωση της ελληνικής οικονομίας διευκολύνθηκε από έναν αριθμό μέτρων που ελήφθησαν. Σε αυτά τα μέτρα συμπεριλαμβάνεται και η οικονομική ενίσχυση εκ μέρους των Η.Π.Α. στα πλαίσια του Σχεδίου Μάρσαλ, καθώς και η υποτίμηση της δραχμής. Ακόμη, την εικόνα βοήθησαν ξένες επενδύσεις, σημαντική ανάπτυξη της χημικής βιομηχανίας, ανάπτυξη του τουρισμού και των υπηρεσιών γενικότερα. Τελευταία, αλλά εξίσου σημαντική, υπήρξε η ογκώδης οικοδομική δραστηριότητα, η οποία επικεντρώθηκε κυρίως σε τεράστια έργα υποδομής, όπως και στην ανακατασκευή των ελληνικών πόλεων. Η ανοικοδόμηση αυτή όμως, είναι άρρηκτα συνδεδεμένη με τις δραματικές συνέπειες που είχε η οικονομική αυτή άνοδος στην ελληνική κοινωνία και στην ανάπτυξη των πόλεών της. Αποτέλεσμα της κατασκευαστικής αυτής δραστηριότητας ήταν μία "αστική ανανέωση", η οποία μέσω της μεθόδου της αντιπαροχής αντικατέστησε το προηγούμενο αστικό τοπίο της πρωτεύουσας και των άλλων ελληνικών πόλεων με ψηλές πολυκατοικίες.

Με όρους ετήσιας οικονομικής ανάπτυξης, η Ελλάδα, μετά το 1950, ξεπερνούσε συνεχώς τα περισσότερα ευρωπαϊκά έθνη. Μόνη εξαίρεση αποτέλεσε η οικονομική αποτελμάτωση της δεκαετίας του 1980, που αίτιό της υπήρξε το αντίβαρο που δημιουργήθηκε από την αντίστοιχη αναπτύξη της "ελληνικής παραοικονομίας". Παρόλα αυτά, η γενικότερη απόδοση της χώρας την κατέστησε μία ανεπτυγμένη οικονομική δύναμη με κατά κεφαλήν εισόδημα που το 2008 πλησίασε αυτά της Γαλλίας και της Γερμανίας (στοιχεία ΔΝΤ και Παγκόσμιας Τράπεζας, Απρίλιος 2008).
